The Untold Adventure was born from a desire to show Cuba beyond the postcards: the real stories, the hidden gems, the personal connections that transform a trip into something unforgettable. We believe that travel isn’t just about places; it’s about people, and every journey has a story waiting to be told.
Meet Alberto – The Heart of The Untold Adventure
Cuba isn’t just where I’m from...it’s who I am. The Untold Adventure was born from my passion for sharing the real Cuba: the places beyond the usual tourist track, the people whose stories bring the island to life, and the experiences that leave a lasting mark on travelers.
For over 15 years, I worked in the travel industry, first in Cuba with the largest government-run tour company and later in the U.S. for an American travel agency sending people to Cuba. I handled everything (operations, accommodations, restaurants, logistics, etc.) and built an extensive network of local connections along the way. I was also the senior local coordinator for international luxury travel brands from the U.S. and Europe, overseeing high-profile itineraries, including private tours for American celebrities.
But I knew there was a better way to show people my country. Most Cuba tours aren’t designed by Cubans. They stick to the same formula, using the same providers and offering the same predictable experiences. I wanted something more personal, more immersive, more real, a way for travelers to see Cuba through my eyes.
So, I created The Untold Adventure.
Now, I personally curate each itinerary, ensuring every trip goes beyond the surface. Over half of our experiences aren’t shared with any other tourist groups, meaning it’s just you and the locals: no crowds, no gimmicks, no cookie-cutter tours. I keep groups small (12 travelers max) so that every interaction is meaningful and every experience feels personal.
I’ve watched travelers arrive with hesitations. Is it legal? Is it safe? Will it be comfortable? And every time, they leave with a deep love for Cuba, unforgettable memories, and a story of their own.

But for too long, the story of Cuba has been shaped by outsiders. In the U.S., most of what people hear is about blackouts, migration, and hardship. Many still believe it’s illegal to travel here. But that’s only part of the picture.
